Batman Begins

I went to see Batman Begins last night with David, Tonda and Stephanie.
It was great! Although of course much happens in the movie which could never happen in real life, nevertheless the move seems much more realistic than the previous Batman movies. It focuses on Bruce Wayne as a character, and the events/thinking that led him to become Batman. Christian Bale did an excellent job as Batman/Wayne, and Christopher Nolan directed an dense, entertaining, dark movie. I definitely recommend it. I think it is the best of all the Batman movies.
Apparently, some people have found the first portion of this movie “slow.” I did not find it so.
Nor did Tonda, one of my fellow-movie-watchers. After the movie ended, she turned to me and said that the time had flown by.
I agree with Tonda. Though fairly long, Batman Begins did not bore me in the least.
Blah… the first part of the movie, while interesting in revealing more of Wayne’s personality and thoughts, crept by.
After the first 30 minutes though, the movie picks up.
I will say that this is not the campy style that was evident in the last two Batman movies… and fortunately, there were no live penguins wobbling around with rockets on their backs.
This movie is worth going to see in the theater… but is not the surprise blockbuster of the summer that the media is proclaiming.
Hee hee! Penquins with rockets.
