A Plethora of Pictures: Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam, WWII Memorials

Posted by Brian September 13, 2005

Boy, did we do a lot of walking!

I think the Lincoln Memorial has always been my favorite, even though the Jefferson one is prettier. I always like to read the Gettysburg Address while I’m in there.

The walk over to the Jefferson Memorial is where most of the famous cherry trees are planted.

The new WWII Memorial is impressive. I didn’t realize or remember that the fountain in the middle of it was already on the Mall. It used to be called the Rainbow Pool.

And the Vietnam wall is always moving.

The Wall is very reflective.Tower commemorating the Atlantic theater of the war.Too bad the cherry trees were not blooming!Lincoln viewed from inside WWII.The famous statue.Unfortunately, the Reflecting Pool was full of slime.

The pictures you two took are just beautiful. Matthew and I so enjoyed your visit and hope you’ll both visit again soon…you know, those cherry blossom trees bloom every year at the beginning of April or so ;) , I know you’d get some lovely shots.

    Thanks, Stephanie.

We enjoyed the visit too. And you guys should come down here. We don’t have cherry trees, but we could show you our Little Rock landmarks, like Jennings Osborne’s big flapping neon eagle. Ha! :)

A central Arkansas site which is prettier than that flapping eagle is the field of daffodils at Wye Mountain. They bloom sometime in March, I think.
