Nadab and Abihu
If you're not from a Churches of Christ background, then this article might not make much sense to you. But I'd like to encourage those of you who grew up in the Churches of Christ to read this post from Mike Cope about Nadab and Abihu.
I never heard too much about Nadab and Abihu growing up, but I sure did at Harding.

Thanks for this post, Brian. I somehow missed it on Mike's blog.

That is a very good post on Mike's blog!!! I like his way of looking at the text. I wouldn't say this was the defining biblical story for me growing up, but I definitely heard it taught the way he says he remembers it when he was growing up. I don't think I could improve on his statement:
"Rituals are trying to root us in our foundational stories and to shape us. They matter greatly. But they aren't the ultimate goal. The goal is lives formed after a holy God."
And I guess that's why I think God accepts all kinds (contemporary, traditional, liturgical, southern gospel) of worship if it's from the heart. And I try to keep an open mind and not put others down for the way they prefer to worship. :)
