Um, can you tell me again why people live here?

Wind chill this morning in Chicago: 1° Fahrenheit.

I would not complain if this were the dead of winter. I would tell myself, "Self, we are in the dead of winter! It should come as no surprise that your ears are frozen and are in danger of falling off."

But this is the middle of November, for goodness' sake!

Of course, I also complain when it is 100°+ in Little Rock during the "summer." I guess every place has its drawbacks...

Wow, that's really cold! I was telling Dad about you saying it was really windy there, and my comment that Chicago is the "Windy City". He said that that nickname didn't really have anything to do with the weather. That it was a political thing, windy politicians, I guess. You just learn something new everyday, huh?

It snowed in Chillicothe today!! No accumulation though.

Apparently, the origin of the "Windy City" nickname is not entirely certain...

Interesting article. When I was commenting earlier, I wondered if the information could be looked up on the internet anywhere. I should have known! Seems like you can find almost anything there. Anything, from the humorous (Seriously, you guys), to the bizarre (the knitted intestine), to the interesting and educational, (such as this article about Chicago).

And when, exactly, is the "dead of winter?"

Well, I don't know when it is exactly, Mom. Maybe in December, January, or February. But definitely not November! :)

As a former resident of Chicago, let me proudly say that Chicago rocks - winter, spring, summer or fall!

It chould be worse. The last time I was in Chicago, 8 years ago, there was snow piled on the side of the road taller than cars.

Well, I certainly could never understand why anybody would live in Arkansas. Or Alabama. Too hot/boring!! I would much rather have lots of lovely snow.

Brian, now you know how I felt when you would turn the thermostat waaaaaaay down in our dorm room (Allen 345, just so you remember). Serves you right, mister. I hope some native Chicagoan calls you a 'temperature wimp' next time you complain. :)
