Goodbye, Chicago

Most of the time I was in Chicago, I was in a drab, ugly office building, working late.
However, occasionally I did get to do/see something cool.
Here is a partial list of some good stuff I experienced in Chicago:

Good eats. I know I should have branched out and gone to more places. But my lunchtime staples were Chipotle, Potbelly Sandwich Works, and Cosi. Yum. I wish we had those places in Little Rock. I also enjoyed The Italian Village, The Grillroom Chophouse, Dave and Busters, and a couple of Chicago-style pizza joints.
Worship in “the beauty of holiness” in fine Anglo-Catholic style at the Church of the Atonement. I think my friend Kate would have been jealous.
Millennium Park and “Cloud Gate”. Actually, the underneath portion of the sculpture was closed off so that workmen could polish it. Peering past the barrier, I saw a man lying on his back on the scaffolding, apparently napping. By the way, the bottom portion is called the “omphalos” (Greek for “belly button”).
The Pompeii exhibit at the Field Museum. Actually, this would have been a lot more enjoyable if it hadn’t been so crowded. Usually, I like to read every little detail on every little sign. But there were so many people jostling about that I actually skipped some stuff just to get away from the crowd.
- Shopping along the “Magnificent Mile” and at Carson Pirie Scott. Actually, this one isn’t so good. I spent too much money.
And finally, GARRETT POPCORN.
