I can’t spell “pleurisy”

I was eliminated in the first round on Saturday from the first annual Central Arkansas Adult Spelling Bee.

I could spell all the words which the other spellers were given, even into the third or fourth round. (Examples include “leisure” and “fajita”.) But I couldn’t spell the one they gave me.

I was robbed! :)

    I’m impressed that you would enter a spelling bee. Even though I consider myself a good speller, I would be afraid to try an actual contest. Good for you!! Sorry you were eliminated! I probably would not have known how to spell “pleurisy” either. :)

    Oh my gravy! Pleeeease tell me this is MY Brain Keith Harmon. I was sitting at my desk just now & the happy voice in my head said “Brian, google, now.”
    So I did & this popped up.
    (Yes, I still do what the voices in my head tell me to do.)

    Can you spell fluorescent?

    It seems that lots of people get that one wrong.
